Strategy
Iron Tide Command
★★★★☆ 4.4
Iron Tide Command asks you to think a few moves ahead, and that's exactly why I like it. You manage resources, build up a fleet, and probe your opponent's defences before committing to an attack. Rush in blindly and you'll get punished quickly.
The touch interface is cleaner than most strategy games manage on a small screen. Selecting units and issuing orders never felt fiddly, which is a real achievement in this genre. Matches are paced so you can play a full round in about fifteen minutes.
There's a solo campaign that teaches the mechanics properly, then a set of tougher scenarios once you've found your footing. It's satisfying in a slow-burn way.
What we liked
- Clean controls for a strategy game
- Matches that fit a coffee break
- A campaign that teaches without hand-holding
